  "So Fast, So Numb"
As I watched my watch go tick, tock, tick tock clock, the no.1 R.E.M. tribute band took to the stage to a modest reception at around 10:40pm.

The set list in no particular order was as follows:

Animal A somewhat strange opener, but hell I liked it. A rousing start to the evening.
The Lifting I don't believe too many actually heard this before but this was strikingly similar to the real thing.
Great Beyond A real favourite which went down well. I wasn't convinced by Rick's attempt to push the elephant up the stairs though.
Bad Day Rocked like I knew it would. How could it be a bad day?
Imitation of life What an imitation!
Strange Currencies These words fail me, great cover.
Losing my Religion Good stuff.
So Fast, So Numb Another rocking performance which wakened up the drunken dancers. Thank you for playing this.
Sidewinder Never heard this live before, very impressed.
Orange Crush This one came in fast over me - impressive.
Leaving New York Just like the real thing.
Aftermath I doubt if many of the non-fans heard this one or ever will, damn shame because this was a stunning rendition.
Stand The best dance tune of the night.
Shiny Happy People No girl did the Kate P. part, I believe the drummer was more disappointed than anyone by this.
One I love I thought I was watching Roadmovie which is a very good thing.
Country Feedback Most memorable part was the guitar at the end - Most enjoyable.
Man on the Moon Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah (great vocals by R.Southern)
Kenneth This was brilliant - played to a tee.
Everybody Hurts Spot on.
End of the World I just wish more people had shouted Leonard Bernstein - an excellent end.
Overall, a modest turnout for the gig didn't take away anything from the performance. Although in saying this, a larger crowd would have thrown a lot more energy around and allowed R. Southern to really turn on the style. The attention to detail by STIPE is unquestionable: the dinosaurs etc are an added bonus for any fan. Their return to Belfast will be gladly welcomed, this time by a lot more people. Go see them.
